Denice Jones’ family were thrust into the world of the paranormal when they learned that their son, Michael, was one of those children who are extremely gifted in spirit communication. What follows is her harrowing tale as they moved from terrified and concerned parents toward acceptance and understanding. Denice’s experience prompted her to begin an organization geared specifically for helping people deal with unruly and unwanted entities. The information follows at the end of the article.

What if your child said that a white crayon-colored man tried to touch him, or balls of light flew all over his room and followed him wherever he went? What if he said this everyday of his life?

What if your child said that scary voices were coming from empty rooms and calling out his name, and a black shadow hovered over him when he tried to sleep, even trying to smother him at night?

What if cuts and scratches appeared on his body for no reason, right in front of your eyes as your child screamed in pain and horror? And you are helpless to protect him.

What if your child says he sees women, men and children, walking, sitting, coming towards him, speaking to him?

What if physicians and counselors tell you that your child is mentally and physically normal and that after many years of hoping for a medical answer, tell you to stop bringing him in that it's spiritually based.

These are just some of the horrifying experiences we, the Jones family, have had to deal with, and continue to deal with, everyday. Our son, Michael ,has been told he is extremely gifted and open to the spirit world and the spirits seem to know that. Our ordeal began when Michael was only three years old. Now, more than a dozen years later, we still struggle with understanding why this has happened to Michael and to us.

The now famous line, “I see dead people” has been printed on mugs, hawked on Tee Shirts and hailed as one of the premier suspense movies of the decade. However, many do not realize that children such as Cole Sear in the movie, Sixth Sense, really do exist. They really DO see ‘dead people’.

Michael sees, feels, hears and speaks to the other side. He can sense which spirits are good and which ones are evil. He seems with every year to change and something new appears. We try desperately to always find the answers to help him through these changes. When this first happened, and we had exhausted all the possibilities, we found that there was literally nowhere to turn. There were few resources out there to help someone in our situation. I, however, am saddened that his life has been one of torment as in the beginning we had a hard time finding solid help, honest help for him.

Michael says someday he wants to help people. He says God gave him this gift for a reason and while we do not know what the reason is. I am proud he will use it to help others. So he waits, he fights what he calls the shadow man. He tries to help the ones who ask him for help. He tells them to leave him alone at times so he can sleep. Which is a big step as he used to run screaming to me when he saw them. And I would stay up on watch until I knew it was okay to sleep knowing my family was safe.

He has a lot of support and has learned a lot from John Zaffis a Paranormal Investigator from CT PRSNE.com. He has become someone that Michael looks up to and trusts. Michael is open to the spirit world and spirits attract spirits, you cannot pick and choose what comes in. At least Michael cannot.

Evil does roam the world, scheming to destroy, attacking the good and the kind, and most of all, the innocent, trying to make them lose or give up their faith. We know that first hand. Except for Michael, I think I have been the most changed by our torment. For the first time in my life, I have discovered the ability to stand on my own in the face of fear. Since our earliest experiences I have spent much time researching the paranormal. After our plight gained the public’s attention, others from around the world contacted me and asked for help. I know the fear that can be inflicted by the paranormal, and I have turned to assisting people who find themselves in similar situations.

I formed a nonprofit organization called L. I. F. E. (Living In Fear ends) Foundation. The foundation refers people, from around the world, to influential Paranormal Investigators. I do not charge to help others, as we solely work on donations and kindness. In the eight years the Foundation was formed I have helped over 6000 families!. Just how many people out there have experienced the paranormal? I do not feel as alone as I did. And just how many more are afraid to come forward afraid to be laughed at and ridiculed. Afraid to be called crazy.

I will never forget those feelings of fear, the fear of seeing my son go through paranormal attacks and the fear of not being able to trust anyone to help us. Many children have abilities. Sometimes they are afraid to talk about it, sometimes they just think it's normal and that everyone sees what they see. Sometimes it's an imaginary friend. If your child confides in you, please, take them seriously. It probably took a lot for them to speak about it. Get medical help to substantiate their claims but never tell them they are sick. They will think you do not believe them and this will hurt them deeply and they may not open up. After all if you do not believe them why should others?

When it came to the media, most were understanding. Some poked fun at the situation. As a result of Michael’s plight and the plight of many others around the world, I have appeared on many television shows. Some of them include Unsolved Mysteries, Prime Time Live, Discovery channel and many more. More recently I was a guest on Ghost Tracker Radio with Jeff Reynolds and Melody Bussey. It is nice to know that there are people out there like them who do support you, who do not want anything from you other then to spread the word to help others. Helping others what a gift that is.

I now am sure that Michael is a beacon of light in the darkness. For this reason, I also believe he may never be free of the spirits, good or evil who come to him. Does Michael ever wonder what it would be like to shut off the supernatural forces that come to him and be like everyone else?

Everyday.

I am not sure how I would deal with it, but Michael, despite the trials he endures, is amazingly optimistic and filled with the joys, as well as moved by the sorrows, of life. Perhaps that's why he was chosen.
